July 26, 1986
It was back in June of 1961,
We graduated high school, we were finally done!
The years went fast, they just flew bye,
Twenty five years! you say with a sigh.
The story is, if the truth be told,
That all of us, we are growing old.
It's better to say "I'm fine" with a grin,
Than to let anyone know the shape we're in.
How do we know our youth has been spent?
Because our "get up and go" has "got up and went".
But in spite of all that, we are able to grin,
When we think of where our "get up and go" has been.
The kids have grown, the dog is old,
How many cars and homes have we bought and sold?
Life goes on, thank goodness for that,
Who really cares if we're getting fat?
Now a reunion is planned for that great '61 class,
We'll greet our old friends as the hours pass.
So get up in the morning, dust off your wits,
Pick up the paper, read the obits.
If your name is mising, you'll know you're not dead,
So send your reply and your check, and then go back to bed.
And as you lay there and you close your eyes,
Think of all the old friends you'll see from days gone bye!
